Lakes Region general manager, Richard Hart and his assistant manger Jonathan Broome are accused in transferring illicit gambling wagers via the IPA between offsite betting facilities in states, overseas and a company located in New York having a reputation of organized crimes. In his response, Hart contended that he merely made a humble investment in the Concord-based International Players Association LLC, but had not taken part in the operational proceedings. His attorney, Ronald Crook has maintained that during the mid-part of 2002, he was contacted by Allan E. Hart and asked to receive an assistance on the matter of legal aspects of the intended venture. On the press conference, Hart has responded saying that in his desire to invest in the company, he was determined to do it the right way.
On Saturday, the Union Leaders received Hart's response in which he emphasized that involvement in the company's formation, in which he admits is not one and the same as being involved in the routine operations of the company. In his announcement, he has cleared himself entirely from the charges related to operations, filed against him.
It is the IPA gambling activities registered earlier this month that brought to the indictment of the chief owner of the Lakes Regional Greyhound Park charged in money laundering and illegal gambling operations designed to lure in high level bettors. The investigation is yet far from resolution according to a recent press release.
