Minnesota may soon clothe a brand new identity, as the Las Vegas of the Midwest, with an accelerated growth of gambling industry. Minnesota could already be regarded as one of the top 10 states, widely administering gambling, especially if recent casino proposals are enacted.
A recently conducted survey showed that gambling bug is contagious across all ages, incomes, levels of education and skin colors. To spurn a few prevailing myths of people with lower incomes gambling at higher rates, the results of the study proved otherwise. Those with higher incomes and more educational background were found to cash in higher numbers.
A new metro-area Indian casino with 4,000 slot machines pushed by Gov. Tim Pawlenty, may soon plant even larger number of gambling machines at a Canterbury Park. The fact is crying out – Minnesotans love to gamble and Pawlenty with his associates contend that gambling is deploying annually at a steady rate, the only outcome of this venture is the state-wide proliferation of wealth.
Among the more ardent gambling opponents are the state legislators who worry that more gambling would entail more crimes and already established casinos that fear the expansion will come at their expense.
