Lately, moral questions have arisen on behalf of the Catholic Church individuals, when they had to face the issue of charitable donation coming from the gambling lords. Imbong, a lawyer for the influential Catholic Bishop Conference of the Philippines has smashed the opposing voices with her statement that intentions of sharing should be cherished irrespective of who the donor is (lawful or illicit). Everyone has his own reasons for donation and the Cardinal can only absolve the person and express his graciousness.
Despite the earlier statements, Imbong has shunned to reveal whether Sin or the CBCP has accepted the donations from gambling lords or not. Neverethless, this did not sit well with Zambales Representative Ma. Milagrosa Magsaysay and Manila Representative Bienvenido Abante who believe such conduct on the part of the church that's supposed to be a morality castle is pure hypocrisy.
A pastor in the Metropolitan Bible Baptist Church has mentioned that in his church gamblers are not welcomed and will be instantly ushered from the membership. Any offerings they might have will be accepted.
