For many years, U.S prosecutors have been waging a war against cyber-gambling backing their argumentations with the 1961 Act of the Wire Communication that prohibits the use of any wired gadgets to bypass state regulations affecting gambling.
On Nov.10, WTO has ruled that impediment of the Internet gambling tears the General Agreement on Trade in Services, signed by the United States which ultimately may lead to a major trade blow up. This is detrimental for United States as it poses it against quite a few countries with legalized Internet casinos.
On Friday, the United States has appealed to the World Trade Organization in request to reverse a recent legislation on gambling. The Bush cabinet is concerned that online gambling will boost the underage wagering as well as fraud thrive and money laundering and therefore is eager to eliminate this field all together. But it calls into question the foundation of trade rules when the cross-border Internet gambling is thwarted.
