Derek, Jeffrey, a chief executive of the British gambling industry, appointed in July was able to hold on to the position for the humble period of seven month. His resignation followed the U-turn on the casino expansion made by the cultural secretary, Tessa Jowell.
The gambling bill was anticipated to create a boom in casino industry and the post of the head of British Casino Association assumed larger scope of responsibilities than what the reality has shown. The July promise has fallen short of what has been expected at the beginning and Jeffrey's presidency appeared to be over a much limited industry. His sudden dismissal and the government's restrictions, besieged on the gambling machines and casino expansion led to the value downfall of some of the British more prominent companies, such as Rank and Stanley Leisure.
The present law enacted to ban any major deployment up to eight years, for already established UK gambling firms. The BCA is struggling to amend the law to be able to contend with the new mega-casinos. New mega-casino will also be curtailed from 40 to eight under the current legislation.
