LOTTO 6/49 will offer the largest- ever Canadian lottery jackpot on Wednesday, October 26, 2005 with a top prize estimated to be $40 million. The previous record was a LOTTO SUPER 7 jackpot of $37.84 million on May 17, 2002.
The new record high follows a $30 million bonus jackpot on Saturday, October 22 that was not won. National sales for the Saturday draw were $54,453,220.00 including Ontario sales of $22,980,332.00. (LOTTO 6/49 is $2 per ticket.)
