It can no longer be denied that whether we want it or not, gambling has become an integral part of our life. Some visit casinos, some play bingo or bet on horses, others, wager on NCAA Tournament, but all of us are involved in essentially the same gambling activity. The recently raised questions are whether states like Ohio and Kentucky should enjoy from expanded gambling.
Three and a half million people, many from Ohio and Kentucky flock to Argosy, Indiana, which spends $150 million on gambling expansion. Ohio State Representative, Bill Seitz maintained that people expect a return from this venture and they do in fact get what they look for, only on the expense of the backs of Ohioans. The general manager of Argosy Casino, Larry Kinser contended that casino gambling market could potentially turn into a billion dollar market.
Yet, the matter remains to be controversial, since a bundle of highly unsettled issues, such as legal, moral, economic and social are squashed together in it. When for some, gambling is a pure entertainment, for others it may grow into a furious addiction. Burress of CCV ratified that in the lapse of 22 years, sex, drugs and gambling has always appeared as a single deity. If you have one, it is almost certain you have the other two. US Senator, George Voinovich, a former Ohio governor voiced his gambling opposition, saying that casinos is the most destructive weapon against citizens least able to cope with financial misfortunes.
