Randy Engle, 58 the Salem’s former school supervisor who was charged with 19 misdemeanors related to corrupt activities of gambling in three counties was investigated by the Alliance Police Department. The act was tackled a few months ago and at that time, Engle pleaded not guilty to all charges. Columbia County Prosecutor, Robert Herron reported that his office was carrying out a separate investigation against Engle.
This time, Randy Engle has pleaded guilty to 19 counts of gambling misdemeanor charges in Alliance Municipal Court. Police Detective David W. Bair revealed in his testimony that according to the information he holds, Engle had been engaged in gambling activities since 1979. Engle’s attorney, Jeffrey Jakmides ratified that his client was hired in a number of privileged positions and in 1999 took a leave after working 23 years as a superintendent of Salem City Schools. He later on noted that he foresees gambling legalization in Ohio in the near future.
Engle received a fine on $100 for each of the pressed charges and was sentenced to 60 days of imprisonment, suspended with one year of probation. Ned Casale, the Assistant City Prosecutor Ned Casale reported that since all the offenses took place approximately at the same time period, they could all account for a single pattern of gambling.
